Ted Atchity of Denver submitted this photo by email of an intense waterfall while hiking around Lake Irwin near Crested Butte. “I was exploring the area, looking for waterfalls to shoot in slow exposure,” Atchity tells EnCompass. “I came across this one, and was amazed at how it turned out.” His camera: Canon 5D. Hoo’s there? ▼
Jackie Harris of Golden submitted this photo online of a burrowing owlet while hiking in the Coyote Ridge Natural Area near Fort Collins. “I had been hiking Blue Sky Trail and spotted a couple of owls in the area. My bird app told me they were burrowing owls, which was on my wish list to photograph,” Harris tells EnCompass. “The following week, I woke up at 2:30 a.m. to get to Fort Collins by sunrise, in hopes of capturing them in the morning light. They were even cuter close up.” Her camera: Canon 5D III. Member since: 2011
